Counseling Curriculum
1. Part of the role of an elementary school counselor is to support students through classroom lesson. I will be teaching several lessons in each classroom throughout the school year. Every grade will receive lessons on social and emotional learning (handling emotions, empathy, communication, problem solving, peer relations, etc.), as well as one lesson on college and career readiness (brief overview of what college is, how to prepare, and the types of colleges available.) 6th grade will also be receiving life skills lessons involving goal setting, decision making, abstaining from drug and alcohol abuse, assertiveness, etc. If you have any questions about the counseling curriculum feel free to contact me.
2. Group/Individual Counseling
Part of the role of an elementary school counselor is to support students through small group and short-term solution-focused individual counseling. I will meet students in groups or individually when additional support is needed for a student to be successful in school. Topics for such arise as referrals com from parents, teachers, or administration. If you have any questions about group and individual counseling or would like your student to partake in these services please contact me.
